Scouts camping at Platania

C.A.S. was invited by a Scouts troops for an astronomy night at Platania (Troodos mountain) on the 18th of August 2007. On our arrival we were welcomed by their Chief and then we proceed with the telescope setup. After all the scouts (boys and girls) were gathered a short brief of the program was given from Mr. Marios Iordanou, president of C.A.S. The lecture was given by Mr. Agapios Elia, vice president of C.A.S. The lecture was about the solar system and how everything works. The following subjects were explained: Solar System What is a planet What is a star What is a comet and asteroids How planets and comets travel around the Sun Night Vision After the lecture many questions were answered and then we proceed to the telescope for observation. All the kids were impressed by the observation. So impressed that after a few days they called us and they asked for more astronomy night! ..So we will be back!   Back to Astronomy Events.       Back
